Runner Automobiles disclosed to the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) on March 24 that its board approved the BYD supply and manufacturing agreement during a March 20 meeting, which also assessed ongoing business performance
This collaboration is poised to be a landmark for Bangladesh's automobile industry, unlocking technology transfer and scaling up local electric vehicle production. Citing BYD's world-class expertise in EVs, directors expressed strong optimism about its transformative potential.
Post-announcement, Runner's shares jumped nearly 10% to Tk37.50 from Tk34.10, reflecting market excitement.
BYD made its official entry into Bangladesh's EV market in 2024. Since then, Runner Group's CG-Runner Bangladesh Limited has served as the brand's dedicated distributor.
