In a major step for local sustainable mobility, BYD has expanded its presence in Bangladesh with the launch of three new energy vehicles: the BYD Seal 5, BYD Seal 6, and the premium BYD Sealion 6 AWD. This new lineup marks a significant push toward smarter, eco friendly automotive technology for Bangladeshi consumers.
The vehicles were officially unveiled at a launch event held on 17 May 2026 at the International Convention City Bashundhara in Dhaka. The launch offered a warm and engaging experience, with detailed product presentations, keynote speeches, and the official unveiling of the new BYD models. Alongside lively media interactions, the highlight of the day was the ceremonial handover of 60 pre ordered BYD vehicles to their new owners.
The BYD Seal 5, arrives as a sleek plug in hybrid electric (PHEV) sedan powered by BYD’s DM i technology and Blade Battery. It features a 1,500cc Xiaoyun high efficiency engine, delivering a combined output of 154 kW and 300 Nm of torque, with a total driving range of up to 1,000 km. The sedan also comes with ADAS safety features, a 360 degree HD camera, six airbags, vehicle to load (V2L) capability, regenerative braking, and a 12.8 inch intelligent infotainment system for a modern, connected drive.
The BYD Seal 6, is a stylish fully electric sedan with a driving range of up to 410 km, making it well suited for daily commutes and longer trips. Powered by a rear wheel drive permanent magnet synchronous motor, the sedan delivers 95 kW of power and 220 Nm of torque for a smooth, refined ride. It adds a premium feel with DC fast charging, Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, leather seats, PM2.5 air filtration, and BYD’s signature Blade Battery technology.
The BYD Sealion 6, AWD brings a comfortable, all wheel drive super plug in hybrid SUV with up to 128 km of pure electric range, supported by a 1,500cc turbocharged engine for extended journeys. It wraps modern comfort in a cozy package, featuring a 15.6 inch infotainment display, an Infinity premium sound system, a panoramic sunroof, ventilated and heated seats, V2L support, seven airbags, and advanced ADAS safety features to keep every drive smooth and secure.
The newly launched BYD Seal 5 starts at BDT 38.90 lac for the first 500 units, while the fully electric BYD Seal 6 is priced at BDT 48.90 lac. Joining the premium SUV range, the BYD Sealion 6 AWD arrives at BDT 71.90 lac, giving customers more options for advanced new-energy mobility.
All three models include BYD’s industry-leading warranty and feature the advanced Blade Battery, reinforcing the brand’s long-term commitment to Bangladesh’s growing EV market.
Speaking at the event, Ketsu Zhang, Deputy General Manager of BYD’s Asia Pacific Auto Sales Division, said Bangladesh is emerging as a key market for the company’s new energy vehicle strategy. BYD Bangladesh Chief Marketing Officer Imtiaz Nawsher added that the new lineup is designed to broaden electric and hybrid mobility options across different customer segments.
